So about a week ago I got a phone call at work from a doctor. This doc had been trying to get in touch with me but apparently when he called my office someone told him that in the many years they have graced the halls of my building, indeed I do not work there.

Now I admit to often times being a bit of an introvert. I'm just fine in my own little corner in my own little chair. I chit chat with my own little patients 2.5 days a week and honestly just use my time at work for just...work. I like it. Its full of critical thinking and babies. Anyways...
So upon the news that I was not recognized I laughed it off for awhile. After further thinking I then decided to take it upon myself to really get out there. To be remembered. To make a real extrovert move! Here was the big plan: Ready?

Send out an introduction e-mail. Bam! Mind blown.

Without much thought I then sent a mass e-mail to the entire office. Doctors, administrators.. No one was discriminated against. I explained the phone situation and went on to say. "So hey, I'm Leigh Ann. Nice to meet you!" After sending the big introduction I then realized...it was my one year anniversary with the company.

Note to self: wave and say hi today. You're showing too much of your weird.

We've been MIA from the blogosphere recently due to multiple illnesses. First it was the flu. Then it was the grumps. Turns out the grumps are actually double ear infections in both kids...fun stuff. While were on the mend let me share our most recent holiday adventure:

Brandon, Nolan & I had the pleasure of attending Coltons class Christmas party on Monday. This is always fun because we get to observe the boy in his natural school habitat. Upon arrival he promptly fell on his face while doing the extremely athletic motion of walking. This was the first indicator that Colton may be the little ladies man. 2 little girls, one twice his height in the only dress up outfit they had that would fit her and the other a teenie little thing with white hair, both rushed to his aid tripping eachother while trying to reach him. He-Man wouldnt accept Big Bertha or Whispies tireless efforts to help him up. This started the trend of the two little girls following him around anywhere he went. Sometimes trailing at a distance, other times getting up close asking him to play or sharing a toy. (He of course was a butt-head to both.) Well turns out Colton prefers older women. While hugging his assistant teacher goodbye he laid a big snotty kiss on her. Pretty sure I heard two little hearts break. Such is life girls...such is life.

6 hours in the car...

We have returned! Our 6 hour car ride home turned into an all out traffic battle lasting a very long 8 hours...but we made it all in one piece and thats something to be thankful for. Our trip to Maryland was fantastic. We saw family that had yet to meet Nolan and my Auntie Barb made a delicious meal. Fun times. Barb is a photographer and owner of Studio Eleven Photography so we had fun making a little stop motion movie. Very fun. Very exhausting. Now onto the Christmas festivities! Bring it on.

My best friend Katie is moving 20 minutes away from me. For the past 7 years she has lived an hour and a half away.

curious vs nosey

Colton is at that stage where he can't just accept that something is the way it is. Colton take a bath. Why? Colton eat your dinner. Why? Colton keep all hands feet and noggins in the wagon while it is in motion. But WHYYY? This I understand and it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that the kids not just curious he's nosey. He doesn't just want to know the facts, he wants juicy details on all the happenings so he can report them back to Nolan (no way that ones spilling any secrets...)

Today our neighbor across the street had a maintenance man of some type at their house. Colton, being the curious kid he is, wanted to know who he was and what he was doing? Oh and of course why his hair was gray, why his truck was white, if he has no teeth like Nolan (his new discovery of Nolans lack of teeth is very disconcerting)??? etc...I was busy feeding the baby and simply told him he was working and I wasn't sure about his age or favorite color. Which then lead to this...

(Colton opens front door and begins to yell at the top of his lungs) Hey worker man!!! Why you doin dat!?!?!? You gots Teef??? His voice was quite alarming as it rang throughout the neighborhood. I made it to the door just in time to catch the I bet you let him play with real hammers and nails in the street too look I've become oh so familiar with. Guess he'll be asking Santa for a monocular this year.

WINNER!!!

I'm one of those average people who hardly ever win anything. Its not for lack of trying, I'm just not one of those lucky I win everything don't let me touch you for you might turn to gold people. So you can imagine my amazement when I won not just one but TWO contests this week! Big shout out to one of my favorite blogs Everything and Nothing From Essex (really awesome blog about a lady and her 2 kiddos one of which happens to rock an extra chromosome) for the awesome canvas print (from Photo-Canvas) and Breakformoms.com for my new Holly Yashi necklace!

Oh and I've been approached to do a product review and giveaway myself...not sure if that's the direction I'm wanting this blog to go, but we'll try it out just once for fun. Look for it around December.

Halloween Crafty Time

No pigs aren't flying and last I heard hell is still hot...we got crafty. I'm not a huge craft person. When I first left work to stay home with Colton we would have a theme and a craft every week...for about 3 weeks. Meh. Its not my thing. He usually gets his collage on at preschool or with my MIL who is an artist. And yet...inspiration struck and we went with it. So here's what we did.

We took some old baby food jars and wine bottles:

And we painted them super creative I know...



Colton painted the baby food jars orange (and yes he is wearing a trash bag smock)

I painted the wine bottles white but didn't like them so I had to start over...

Then we put jack-o-lantern faces on the orange jars & I painted pumpkins on my wine bottles

I put tea lights in the pumpkins and they look pretty cool in our bathroom.

 

Coltons favorite part was mixing red and yellow paint to make orange. Nolan is more of an art appreciator than artist, but he seemed to enjoy the finished product.

Brandon & I joined some friends and family at a charity event for The Wounded Warrior Project (click here to learn more) The theme was the 70's

Lots of women in their late fifties early sixties told me they rocked this look to the disco. Including my own grandma (only her fro was blonde). Brandon almost freakishly resembles his dad circa 1976...

Anything for charity folks.

Honey Boo Boo

OK. So if you have not seen TLCs Toddlers & Tiaras spin off  "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" you my friend are missing out. Seriously. Its funny. The mom is by far the funniest. Some have called her a bad mom yada yada yada. But I really just think she doesn't know any better (she reveals being a teen mom at only 15 and having 2 kids by 17 thus causing her to drop out of school.) The lady really does love her kids.

Favorite quotes thus far:

“All that vajiggle jaggle is not beautimous.” –the mom

“We’re gonna make you a pageant gay pig.” –Alana (the 6 yr old little beauty queen herself)

and my personal favorite....“It’s called a biscuit ‘cause it looks like a biscuit, ya know, when it opens up and…” –the mom giving us an anatomy lesson uh umm...(she even mentions Hardees at one point!)

So if you decide to watch just keep an open mind & see it for what it is. A really funny show that is meant to be just that.
